Joint Crossing Guard Notice
Joint Crossing Guard Notice Memo
Dear Parents/Guardians,
With safety and security being critical priorities for our students, we are pleased to inform you of a collaborative effort between the Fort Moore Garrison Leadership and DoDEA Americas/Fort Moore Schools. As part of this initiative, we encourage volunteers from our parent community to participate in crossing guard duty. Having crossing guards helps ensure safe passage for our students as they arrive and depart from school. Volunteers will assist students in crossing roads and intersections, ensuring they arrive at school and return home safely.
To facilitate this effort, interested parents should contact the Garrison POCs, our School Liaisons, Mr. Ethan Branch: ethan.d.branch.naf@army.mil or (706) 545- 3062 or Mr. Marcus Dubose: marcus.l.dubose.naf@army.mil or (706) 626-8625.
The Fort Moore Military Police will support and oversee this program, ensuring our volunteers can access a crossing guard training manual for this vital role. MPs will also strictly enforce a 15MPH school zone speed limit during student transit times. At the same time, the Public Works team will continue to maintain and improve crosswalk markings and signage to ensure student safety.
Additionally, we want to remind parents and students to observe appropriate pedestrian and bicycle safety regulations when walking or riding on the installation. In accordance with Fort Moore Garrison Regulation 210-5, children below 2nd grade should be attended while traveling to and from school or while waiting for a school bus. In addition, students should follow crossing guard instructions and only cross at marked crosswalks. Following these regulations is crucial to promote safety and prevent accidents. We encourage all families to discuss and reinforce these guidelines with their children to create a safer environment for everyone.
Your active participation and support in enhancing student safety are greatly appreciated. Thank you for your ongoing commitment to our military-connected students and families.
Signed,
Colin P. Mahle Colonel, U.S. Army Commanding |
